The Gunners have already signed a new Goalie this summer, Bernand Leno for £19m last month.
But Coach Unai Emery is still keen to improve his squad before the transfer window closes.
According to Spanish NewsOutlet Marca, the Gunners are closing in on a deal for another Goalkeeper.
The Spanish NewsOutlet claim Arsenal are in 'advanced talks' with Sommer, who replaced Marc Andre Ter Stegen at Mochengladbach when he joined Barcelona.
Marca also claim that Barcelona are keen on Sommer this summer as Jasper Cillessen nears a Camp Nou Exit.
The 29-year-old's move to Arsenal could see Barcelona Move for Liverpool's Simon Mignolet.
Current Arsenal shot-stoppers Petr Cech and David Ospina both look like they will depart the club as Emery revamps his new-look Arsenal side.
The former has been linked with a shock return to Chelsea this summer.
As well as Leno, Emery has brought in Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Sommer's fellow countryman Stephan Lichtsteiner.
