Croatian Midfielder, Luka Modric has named Nigeria the "best" team in Africa, despite FIFA rankings.
He also revealed how Croatia will approach the match.
Croatia will face Nigeria's Super Eagles today in a Group D match at Kaliningrad Stadium.
Croatia currently rank higher than Nigeria in the monthly FIFA Rankings as they are 20th while Nigeria are in the 48th position.
The Real Madrid Midfielder was asked in a press conference ahead of the match and was quick to play down the significance of the FIFA Rankings.
He said, “I don’t think we are favourites going into tomorrow’s game because the first game in every tournament is usually very difficult. The gap in the rankings doesn’t concern us a team because everybody knows that Nigeria are a quality side.Perhaps the best in Africa”, Modric said.
”They like to play with pace, speed and strength and that is something we have to deal with in tomorrow’s game and not what is on the FIFA Rankings. We’ll play our game using our quality against a solid team in Nigeria, “ he concluded.
