Captain Lionel Messi missed a second-half penalty as Argentina were held to a 1-1 draw by World Cup debutants Iceland.

Sergio Aguero gave the South Americans the lead in the 19th with a brilliant finish from 12yards.

But the smallest ever country to qualify for the World Cup, Iceland equalised four minutes later when Alfred Finnbogason  fired home from close range.

Argentina were awarded a penalty in the second half to take the lead again but Lionel Messi failed to convert from the spot.

Leo Messi had a total of 10 shots but produced 0 goals, shocking no doubt!
