Niger Tornadoes’ Terkaa Melai has expressed his disbelief at their inability to pick another away point against Enyimba in Calabar on Wednesday.
The Ikon Allah Boys were close to getting at least a point against the People’s Elephant before Emeka Obioma’s dying minute effort turned them back to Minna empty-handed and Melai disclosed that it was difficult to explain their late collapse against Paul Aigbogun’s men.
“It was a game we have deployed our entire arsenal towards getting at least a draw and we were very close before the late goal shattered our hearts,” Melai told Goal.
“It was a game we should have picked a point but how we lost all points is still hard for me to explain. We just collapsed at the dying minute of the match and after playing such nice game, that little mistake cost us the points.
“We are still going to be happy with our performances in both away matches we played at a stretch. We were not giving any chance against FC Ifeanyi Ubah but we were able to surprise them and were only denied at the death by Enyimba.”
The former Lobi Stars goalkeeper, however, pointed out that they must work harder on their concentration level ahead of their forthcoming games.
“The loss to Enyimba has thought us a big lesson that we must remain focused for the duration of the game and this we must work on in our subsequent matches so that we don’t lose points in the manner we lost this,” he continued.
“I believe we can still do well in the league in spite of this setback. We must work harder and consolidate on three away points we got against FC Ifeanyi Ubah by ensuring that we do not lose any point again at home.”
Niger Tornadoes are fourth in the league log with 34 points from 22 games.
