N’Golo Kante wants to finish what has been a good season for him personally by lifting silverware at Wembley for the first time in his career.
The midfielder was recently voted the club’s Player of the Year by Chelsea supporters who acknowledged his consistent top-level performances during a campaign that has not been short of highs and lows.
Victory in the FA Cup final on Saturday will likely necessitate another top showing from Kante, and the Frenchman is determined to go out with a bang and leave the national stadium with a winners’ medal to add to the two he has from his Premier League successes.
‘For me it is the fifth or sixth time playing at Wembley, and it is always good,’ Kante said.
‘Having half and half supporters makes it very special. The only thing I have won there are two semi-finals, so to win one trophy there would be really amazing.
‘We are all a bit disappointed about our final place in the table, but this is something to win, something to finish the season on a good note, and something we can enjoy all together with the team, the staff, the supporters. We are really looking forward to it.
‘Every final is different,’ added Kante.
We have played Manchester United twice this season, we have won once and lost once, and I think we have our chances of winning this game and getting this trophy.’
