Marcos Alonso feels Chelsea were worthy winners of the FA Cup final after executing our game plan to perfection against Manchester United.
The Blues arrived at Wembley Stadium with a clear plan in place to nullify the Red Devils' threat and put it into action in near-faultless style with a performance based on a solid defensive foundation.
Having restricted our opponents to a handful of chances, and crucially taken our own when it came along in the first half, the Spaniard was in no doubt as to who earned to right to lift the famous trophy.
'I think it was well-deserved,' said Alonso. 'We knew playing this way we were going to suffer but the team defended very well and we scored one of the few chances we had.
'We felt comfortable, even if we suffered a little bit, because 90 minutes defending against good players. We stayed compact during the whole game and we helped each other out, so I think it was a much-deserved win.

'It was hard, not only in the second half but in the first half as well. We knew playing this way we were going to suffer and we had to defend a lot but I think we did a great game. We had a plan we executed very well and I'm very happy for the title.'
Alonso was one of those who climbed the Wembley steps to receive his first FA Cup winner's medal in the Royal Box on Saturday, and is pleased the players and fans can head off for the summer with a smile on their faces, after claiming a trophy in the last game of the season.
'I'm happy for my first FA Cup win, it feels good to go on our holidays with a title,' he said. 'The fans will be happy after the win, it was a good game and a title for them. I'm very grateful to them for their support during the whole season. Now we will have a good rest and come back stronger next season.'
